St. Mark’s Mission & Outreach

The Mission Moments are read regularly at St. Mark’s highlighting the various ways that our M & S dollars are put to good use in the local, national and international arenas.

The movie, An Inconvenient Truth, was shown at the NSCC Strait Area Campus to approximately 35 people, in cooperation with Ecology Action Centre of Halifax. Linda Scheurzinger, Chair of Inverness-Guysborough Presbytery Mission and Outreach, introduced the film and led the discussion that followed. Thanks to Rilla McLean for all her efforts in making this successful event happen. It is hoped to have a follow-up meeting of interested parties in the fall, to discuss how we could make some ecological change in this community.

The next event we are looking forward to is Anniversary Weekend-- the Dessert Tea and Quilt Show on June 8, at 7 p.m. This will be held in conjunction with the TeaTyme Quilters who meet weekly at St. Mark’s. A free will offering will be received at the door and all are welcome. The few men who were out last year thoroughly enjoyed the quilts, the tea, the desserts and especially the conversation!

Looking ahead, mark your calendar for Christmas shopping at the Ten Thousand Villages Craft Show and Sale on October 27, 2007.

To the end of April, $5000 of our commitment has been submitted to the national church. Remember to mark your donations to Mission and Service on your church envelope, as you must indicate what portion of your givings you wish to go to that account.
