Welcome and Announcements

Lighting of the Christ Candle: On this Pentecost Sunday we light our Christ Candle. Although we know the Spirit is always present, may this be the day in which we take notice, pay attention and help to light up the world.  Amen.

Introit: Rise Up, MV #130

Gathering Words:

Come, Holy Spirit, Come!

May our lives be filled with rushing winds.

May our hearts be filled with life made new

May we be lifted from our ordinary moments just for today…

May we listen for new ways of speaking that make sense to the world

Along with listening, may our ways of hearing also make sense in our lives         and in our world.  Come, Holy Spirit, Come!  We are ready!

Let us pray: Spirit of the Living God, we are together in spirit just as the Spirit is present with us always.  In this time of virtual worship, may we each in our own space feel the Spirit’s presence and be enabled to experience our own Pentecost.  Today is the day we celebrate the Church, the Spirit and the people who came together in the past, the present, and will continue to come together as we look to the future. We open ourselves to the amazing power of this mighty, yet invisible Spirit with us, which inspires us to do the work of Christ not only here in our church but also beyond ourselves into a world that needs to be healed, supported and raised even higher into the very presence of God.  Amen

The Community Celebrates

Minute for Mission

Our Joys and Concerns and Lighting the candle of caring:

As one heart is lifted
May we share its celebration
As one heart is burdened
May we share the pain it knows

And so we take this flame and light our special care candle… in all our joys and in all our concerns, may we be ever mindful of the present-ness of God among us.
