St. Mark's Memorial Bell-Tolled 100 times on November 11th

Tolling the bell were: Clark and Patsy Brander, Susan Langley, Nan Corrigan D.M., Catherine, Alistair, Olivia, and Sophie Langley, Alexis Beaton, Bruce Corrigan, Russell Langley, Iaian Langley (and Anna Marie Langley, photographer)

Anna Marie Langley took her turn tolling the bell. Bruce Corrigan looks on.

On November 11, at the going down of the sun, communities across Canada marked the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War with the ringing of bells. The ringing of bells emulated the moment in 1918 when church bells across Europe tolled as four years of war had come to an end.

At sunset on November 11, 2018 the bells rang 100 times at Parliament Hill, city halls, places of worship, military bases, Naval vessels and at ceremonies across the country to honour Canada's Veterans and commemorate the end of the First World War.
When hearing the bells toll on November 11, everyone was encouraged to take a moment to pause and remember all those who served and sacrificed.

We will remember them.

St. Mark's United Church tolled their Memorial Bell and broadcast the sound over the outdoor speakers to the community beginning at 4:41 on November 11th.

Announcements The Work of Church and Community

WE GATHER TO WORSHIP GOD

Greeting
Let us pause to remember that in this region we live and work and worship on lands that are, by law, the unceded territories of the Wabanaki peoples—predominantly the lands of the Mi’kmaq, Maliseet, and Passamaquoddy.
May we live with respect on this land, and live in peace and friendship with its people.
One: The peace of Christ be with you. All: And with your spirit.

One: God lifts up those who are lowly, God rekindles lives that the world has sought to extinguish.
All: Nothing and no one is holy like our God!
One: God restores dignity to those who have been brought down, and guards the feet of his faithful ones.
All: Nothing and no one is holy like our God!
One: Come, friends, and let us worship God.
