In the bright of our days, when the world’s glitter
catches our desire

We pray for the people of Haiti, Cuba, and surrounding countries whose lives have been suddenly and violently shattered. We pray for their loved ones, homes, livelihoods and crops. We also pray for those who are from this region and now living in Canada, as well as for Canadians whose loved ones were in this region when the hurricane struck.

Call to Worship

Opening Prayer

Gracious and loving God, we give thanks that you have entrusted us with your sacred mission to be salt and light. May our worship inspire and enliven us to fulfill our calling, that we might flavour the world with justice, and illuminate the shadows of despair and oppression, wherever we are. Amen.

Minute for Mission

*Offering Prayer

Holy One, in our busy lives we often forget that the gifts of creation are for all, that others need our care, that we are stewards of life. Use us, our time, and our talent, and use what we have given for the good of all creation. May it be so. Amen.

Prayers for a Congregation’s Anniversary

One: We thank God for all of this. All: Thank you, O God of past, present and future.

WE GO TO SERVE GOD

* Hymn Jesus You Have Come to the Lakeshore      VU 563

* Commissioning for Stewardship

Go with hearts that are glad and generous;
go with lives that have been touched and are full.
Go with God’s covenant written on your hearts.
Go and be salt-flavouring and light-bearing,
and allow the God-colours and the God-flavours
to be seen and tasted.
Name injustice, demonstrate Christ’s alternative way,
display peacefulness in word, action and in your being.
Live love as God is love to us and for us and through us.
This day and forever.

*Choral Amen
