Two Ladies from St. Mark's Carry the Olympic Flame

The Olympic Flame passed through Judique on Monday night (November 16th) en route to Port Hawkesbury with the help of Lana MacLean.

Tuesday morning (November 17th) the Olympic Flame made its way through Port Hawkesbury with the help of Flame Bearer Rilla McLean.

Rilla's Story
In early October, I received a phone call telling me that my name had been suggested as a community representative sponsored by Coca-Cola to carry the Olympic torch. I agreed and so began my journey to register online, receive information by snail mail and my uniform by courier. The morning of November 17 was a memorable one as I wheeled my 300 meters with the Olympic torch from Mcdonalds to the Civic Centre on Reeves Street. The flame was extinguished twice by the wind. It was relit and didn't go out again when three Olympic officials linked arms and formed a human shield in front of the flaming torch. Thanks to all who came to cheer and wave.

St. Mark's Ways & Means Roast Beef Dinners

It was an delicious meal! The profit on the Roast Beef Dinner held November 13th and the Roast Beef Dinner served to the Inverness County Teachers came to $2519.00. The grand total for the Fund Raising Year is $7393.00. Great work everyone!

Gladys was the cashier for the evening.

The hard working servers in the kitchen (Lucy, Judy, Brenda, Carol Ann, Ruth & Lorna) kept the meals going out quicker than a fast food restaurant. Who need McDonalds? The food was much tastier too!

Bill and Russell enjoyed their meal and catching up on the news.

Billie & Monica have a serious discussion with Larry.

Jean, Bonnie and Eric are ready to have one of those great desserts.

Is the coffee better than Tim's Curly?

Animated Lana describing her upcoming Olympic Torch run to Rebecca.

The Fowlie Family

Joyce visits with the Smith family.

Joan & Dorothy are waiting for dessert.

A wonderful meal and a visit with friends. What could be better?

June & Jane chat over coffee.
