This is Wilderness Sunday.
When we read “We know that the whole creation has been groaning in labour pains until now” (Romans 8:22), we are invited to turn our thoughts to the contemporary reality of a creation groaning from the impact of human activity. In addition to groaning, what else might creation have to say about its current situation?

Spirit of wilderness,
we know about control; show us the letting go.
We know about gardens; lead us to wildness.
We know about full; empty us to spacious.
We know about words; open us to your sighing.
