January 24th, 2016-3rd Sunday after Epiphany

A thought around which to gather as we worship--Jesus proclaims the good news of a changing landscape – release, recovery, liberation – and will show the people the way. Just as Jesus was an agent of change toward the place of wonder, peace and joy God envisions, we are invited to be part of that transformation following in the way of Christ.

All: God revives our souls and causes our hearts to rejoice!
One: As we worship together, God will strengthen us.
All: We know that God, our strength and our redeemer is moving in this place!

*Opening Prayer
Wonderful God, you have called each of us here this morning, and we have answered that call. Some of us have come joyfully; some of us have come bearing the burdens of grief, pain, or doubt. Some of us don’t know why we have come at all. Wherever our hearts are this morning, we pray that we would encounter you. We know that when we encounter you, God of abundance, you will fill our hearts and we will be changed. Send your Spirit to blow over this place so that all we do will bring glory to your name! Amen.

Commissioning and Benediction
Friends, the Spirit of the God is upon us,
because God has anointed us to bring good news to the poor.
God has sent us to proclaim release to the captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free, and to proclaim jubilee.
As we go from this place, let us go with joy and boldness
ready to proclaim and live out Jubilee!

*Choral Amen
