embrace the way of sharing,
and know solidarity with the loving Christ. Amen.

Prayers of Thanksgiving and Intercession
In prayer we bring everything to God—
good things and bad things.

And God always hears us when we pray.
Let us pray.
We call to mind our concerns and commitments,
and join our prayers for peace and well-being
to the prayers of the whole church
as they are offered this day for the whole world.
Let us pray:
We remember the people we know
who are in trouble,
and pray for healing and happiness for all.
silence
We seek God’s encouragement:
for honest trade and just commerce;
for medicine and education;
for the gifts and aptitudes in every person
which serve justice in community living.
silence
We pray for peace on earth:
for the generous sharing of the earth’s resources
and the responsible sharing of the earth’s problems;
for understanding of others
and willingness to regard the diversity of human culture
as more stimulating than threatening;
for the turning of swords into ploughshares
and spears into pruning hooks.
silence
We pray for the church,
by all its names and in all its places:
for its continuing usefulness as a channel of grace and hope;
for its rescue from bureaucracy and stagnation;
for its witness to unity and justice;
for its commitment to hospitality and compassion.
silence
We commend to the Lord our families and friends;
and let us ask God to help us in the days of this coming week.
silence
Amen.

O God, as we go to our homes and our work this coming week,
we ask you to send the Holy Spirit into our lives.
Open our ears—that we may hear what you are saying to us
in the things that happen to us and in the people we meet.
Open our eyes—
that we may see the needs of people around us.
Open our hands—that we may do our work well,
and help when help is needed.
Open our lips—that we may tell the Good News of Jesus
and bring comfort, happiness, and laughter to others.
Open our minds—
that we may discover new truth about you and the world.
Open our hearts—
that we may love you and others as you have loved us.  Amen
WE GO TO SERVE GOD
*Hymn            God Be with You till We Meet Again             VU 422
*Commissioning and Benediction
Go now
and continue to offer prayers and thanksgiving for everyone.
Be shrewd in dealing with the world around you
but do not be seduced into serving wealth.
Weep for those who suffer
and share faith and truth with all.

And may God welcome you with love;
May Christ Jesus give you knowledge of the truth;
And may the Holy Spirit lead you into all godliness and dignity.

We go in peace to love and serve the Lord,
...In the name of Christ. Amen.
