Inverness-Guysborough Presbytery meetings were held at Alexander Grant Memorial United Church, East Lake Ainslie in January, St. Mark’s United Church, Port Hawkesbury in March, and Wilson United Church, Margaree Centre in April.
There was no meeting in May as delegates were to attend the annual meeting of Maritime Conference in Sackville, New Brunswick. Barbara Blois, who is serving on the Margaree Pastoral Charge, will be commissioned as a lay preacher at this meeting of Conference.
The June meeting will be at St. Stephen’s United Church, Port Hood.
Delegates are asked to gather at the beach for an outdoor communion and then move to the church for dinner and to hear Laurie Stanley, our guest at this meeting. Also at this time, we will be saying good-bye to Rev. Wilf Pelley, who is retiring from active ministry; Rev. Leonard Oracheski, who has accepted a call to Stonewall United in Manitoba and Linda Stumpf who has completed three years of Interim Ministry on the St. John’s Pastoral Charge and will be returning to Saskachewan.
The Eastern Guysborough Pastoral Charge has again received funding from the Mission and Service Fund of the United Church of Canada to assist them to continue their breakfast programs at the Canso and Guysborough schools.
Three Pastoral Charges will be welcoming new ministers in the next months:
Rev. Roger Moore to St. John’s Pastoral Charge, beginning July 1, 2007
Rev. Heather Manuel to Eastern Guysborough Pastoral Charge, beginning July 1, 2007
Rev. Sheldon LeGrow to St. Mark’s/St. David’s Pastoral Charges, beginning September 1, 2007.
