Firefighters Memorial-St. David's

Storms are a fact of life. They are a force of the nature that affects us all: the deer, the tree, the river, and the town. When hometowns are ravaged by storms it brings questions. For many, personal storms of grief or illness or addiction cause the same sense of powerlessness. Some will have experienced renewal and balance restored after the storm, for others the future still feels bleak.
As you consider the trials of storms of daily life what psalm of lament and praise would you write?

Opening Prayer
God, our Creator, as we face the storms of this world, we celebrate the wonders of the wind and the weather. Help us to see your presence in the forces of nature, your presence with those who suffer from natural disasters, and your presence among those who come to their aid. Today we remember and honour the important role that volunteer firefighters play in responding to the storms of life: weather events, fires, tragic accidents and natural disasters. Teach us to recognize that your Wisdom is embedded in all natural forces, a Wisdom that suffers, guides, and heals. In the name of Christ, who is the Wisdom of God renewing all things in creation. Amen.
