Becoming "Affirming"
The Boards of St. Mark's and St. David's United Churches wish to engage both our congregations in a process to consider becoming "Affirming" Congregations.
Each United Church organization that is an Affirming Ministry declares itself to be fully inclusive of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities — and they back up their words with action. The Affirming Ministries Program encourages United Church bodies (congregations, presbyteries, conferences, educational centres) to study what it means to be publicly welcoming and inclusive. The program provides support for sexual orientation and gender identity issues. It also encourages the study of other United Church resources that promote the inclusion of other marginalized groups.
The resources for this process are provided by Affirm United. Are you interested in and committed to the full inclusion of everyone in our congregations? We are looking for a few people to help lead us through the process. Please speak to Nan if you could serve on this working group.
