Take Action: Stop the Demolition of Palestinian Villages

It appears that Israeli Civil Administration officials have begun preparing for the forcible transfer of the Palestinian village of Khan Al Ahmar, expelling the residents from their homes for the third time since the 1950s. Take action! Write to your elected representatives, asking them to act urgently for the sake of justice.

Big Events at the Festival of Faith

The Festival of Faith line-up is shaping up with some wonderful events, including more than 20 faith-based workshops, the Embracing the Spirit Art Display, a busy Artisan Market, and much more!

The Professors Of Funk, EvenSong, Martyn Joseph, Janne Mark, and Turpin's Tail will be among our featured musical performances.

Take a look at the full agenda! We hope you can join us in Oshawa, July 21-22, to kick off the 43rd General Council with a great celebration of faith, creativity, and joy!

(Note: Due to an error, singer Buffy Sainte-Marie will NOT be performing at the Festival as reported in the latest issue of the United Church Observer.)

Remit Implementation: Ask Us Anything

Many of you have questions about how the remits will be implemented if GC43 chooses to enact them. Remit Implementation Project Leader David Allen and other members of the Remit Implementation Task Group will be on hand to answer your questions. Join us for a YouTube Live broadcast that will be especially helpful to GC43 commissioners but also anyone who is wondering about remit implementation. Join us  Tuesday July 17, 1:00 p.m. ET/10:00 a.m. PT.

You can also find out more on our newly reorganized Remit Implementation webpage, including a “Remit Implementation Road Map” which answers questions we’ve received and links to related proposals and reports in the Digital Workbook for GC43.

A New Book from Former Moderator David Giuliano

Former Moderator David Giuliano has an important new book out. It’s Good to be Here: Stories We Tell about Cancer is a courageous and deeply personal book about the author’s more than 20 year journey with cancer. It is part memoir, part spiritual meditation. Check out the introductory video and get your copy from UCRDstore.ca.

On Monday July 23 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., David will be at the UCRD book display at General Council 43 to sign copies of his book.
