POWSA (Port of Welcome Settlement Association) NEWS! We have had wonderful news. St. Mark's and POWSA have received written confirmation from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada that our sponsored Syrian family, the Dalatis, have been approved to travel from Beirut, Lebanon and will arrive at Sydney airport on May 15th. All the local POWSA Committees are swinging into high gear. Accommodation has been arranged. Watch for more news as the time for our family's arrival approaches.

This conference will provide an opportunity for participants to increase knowledge and understanding about seniors’ mental health and addiction issues. Inverness County Singers Present: “Everybody, Let’s Rock”
The Inverness County Singers spring concert series will present a medley of classic Rock and Roll hits from the 1950s to the present at various venues. They will be joined by the youth singers including “Vocal Motion’. This exciting program will highlight such familiar classics as ‘Rock around the Clock’ and feature selections by Elvis Presley, Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, the Eagles and Adele to name just a few. Concert dates – May 12 (St. Mark’s, Port Hawkesbury), May 17 (Mabou Community Centre), May 18 (Inverness Centre for the Arts). Start times: 7:30 pm. Admission by donation.
Cold Plate Dinner – Take-out only by Girl Guide Camp Committee on Friday, May 11th at St. Mark’s from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Fresh roll, ham, potato salad, pasta salad, cole slaw & dessert $12.00.
Mother’s Day Dinner: The PHAST Swim team is hosting a hot turkey dinner at Glendale Hall at 5:30 p.m. on May 13th.. Tickets are $15.00 per person. Contact Susan Langley at 902-227-7582.
Trip to the Two Rivers Wildlife Park.... Will take place on Monday, June 18th, departing St. David's parking lot at 9 a.m. We will travel to and from Sydney by car. We have two cars available, however, If you can help with transportation that would great. This will be a picnic, walking outing, to enjoy the wildlife park and the great outdoors. Bring your own picnic lunch. Friends from St. Mark's and other churches are welcome to join us. The rain date will be Thursday, June 28th. Supper in Baddeck on the way back.
