The Treasurers of St. Mark’s & St. David’s will be closing their books on December 31st. Any donations received after that date will credited to 2017.

Please join us for “Making Spirits Bright,” a Christmas concert by the Inverness County Singers and the Young County Singers, directed by Laurel Browne with piano accompaniment by Lawrence Cameron.  The concert will be held TODAY, December 11 at 3 pm at St. Mark’s and Monday, December 12 at 7:30 at St. Mary’s Church, Mabou.  Freewill donations go to local charities.

Breakfast at Port Hastings Fire Hall on Saturday, December 17, 2016 from 8:00-11:00 a.m. Adults $8.00/Children $5.00. Hosted by Port Hastings Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Donate your gently used clothing to Port of Welcome Settlement Association. Drop off clothing at Cathy's Consignment shop and ask that proceeds of sales go to the POWSA account (act#4488). Once our family arrives they will be able to use the credit in that account to purchase clothing items.

The Princeville United Church Annual Christmas Service will be held Sunday December 11th at 7PM. Come and join in a wonderful evening of beloved Christmas music and readings in our beautiful old church decorated in Christmas finery. A fellowship will follow. All welcome

Port Hawkesbury Seasonal Services is once again preparing to provide Christmas dinner boxes for those in need in the Town. Anyone wishing to donate financially to this project may do so by contacting Jo-Anne MacDonald @ 625-3003. Donations also may be left at the Pitt Street Post Office. Donations may be left in your name, at the Royal Bank of Canada.

A Community Outreach and Support Worker, Jenny Comeau, is available to assist people of all ages to access all possible resources and services available to them. Issues may include housing grants, Efficiency NS applications, caregiver benefits, pension concerns, etc. A new weekly schedule become effective Monday, November 21, 2016 as follows: Mondays – St. Peter’s; Tuesdays – Arichat (Office Day); Wednesdays – Louisdale; Thursdays – Arichat; and Fridays – Port Hawkesbury. HomeWarming – Low-Income Program
A house is a structure. A home is warm. 
We all deserve to be comfortable in our homes, regardless of income. But too many struggle to keep warm and pay the bills. Clean Foundation and Efficiency Nova Scotia are working together to offer low-income homeowners free energy efficiency improvements that can help them feel more comfortable while reducing heating and power bills. And these upgrades are provided at no-cost to qualifying homeowners thanks to the generous support of Nova Scotia Power and the Government of Nova Scotia. 
        Interested homeowners can speak confidentially with a Service Advisor about their eligibility by calling 1-877-434-2136 (toll free) or visiting www.HomeWarming.ca for full eligibility criteria and applications.
Applications and brochures are available in the church office.

Trinity United Church, Mulgrave, will host an ecumenical "Blue Christmas" service, Thursday, Dec. 15th , at 7:00 p.m.  The service will provide an opportunity and safe place for those that find this time of year difficult.  Perhaps its your first without a love one, or you are experiencing other personal hardship.  All are welcome. 


Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home is holding a Craft Sale on Sunday, December 11th from 10-3 p.m.. There will be a Craft Table, A New To You Table, Bake Table & Penny Sale.
