WE GATHER TO WORSHIP GOD

Laetare Jerusalem: et conventum facite omnes qui diligitis eam: gaudete cum laetitia, qui in tristitia fuistis: ut exsultetis,et satiemini ab uberibus consolationis vestrae.

Rejoice, O Jerusalem: and come together all you that love her: rejoice with joy, you that have been in sorrow: that you may exult, and be filled from the breasts of your consolation.  Isaiah 66:10, 11

Greeting

One: The peace of Christ be with you. All: And with your spirit.

*Introit       Tree of Life and Awesome Mystery      vs. 4 VU 121

Call to Worship

One: God welcomes you to this place – if it’s your first time, if you were here last week, or if you’re returning after a long time away.
All: We are happy to be in God’s presence!
One: God’s with us on our Lenten journey, providing the nourishment and love that we need. We remember God journeying with God’s people out of Egypt and through the desert.
All: We praise God and remember God’s faithfulness.
One: On their journey home, God greeted God’s people in the promised land with new food to replace their meals of manna. God was doing a new thing in their lives.
All: We’re looking for the new thing that God is doing in our lives today.
One: God welcomes you to this place – where all will find love, forgiveness, and restoration.
All: We celebrate in God’s presence!

Opening Prayer

As the prayer is offered, you are invited to hold hands open and lift them to God.

*Hymn            For the Fruit of All Creation                      VU 227

Lenten Triad Candle Extinguishing (Tenebrae)

One: Today is the fourth Sunday of Lent. Lent is a time to think about the things that block us from following God's way of loving and caring for this world and one another.
Two: Today we will put out our fourth Lenten candle. This candle represents pride.
One: As the candle is put out, let us pray in silence for God to remove pride within us and in our world that makes us feel more important than others and stops us from asking for God's help when we need it.
(Snuff out fourth (pink) Lenten candle and then pause with head bowed for silence.)
Knowing that God accepts us for who we are, but loves us into who we can be, let us join together in this song,
