Church
in Action: Stroll for Your Soul – 21 Emails to Encourage Walking
It takes 21 days to create a habit. Use daily emails as motivation to get outside. The emails will help you notice the green and growing glories of Spring. If you are a regular walker, they offer practice at paying attention and being in the present moment. We need 10 people to sign on to this email retreat to get the group rate--signup sheet on the table in the church entry or call the church office to join. Walk on you own, with a favourite walking partner--or someone from this group. Each email will offer a practice, or a reflection, or a poem, or a photograph giving direction and encouragement to your time spent walking or jogging or biking or even skate boarding.

EASTER
SUNDAY
On
this day – considered the most important on the liturgical calendar
– Christians in most churches celebrate the resurrection of Jesus
Christ.
Easter
Sunday begins a 50-day period that lasts until the day of Pentecost.
For many it is a time of baptism and renewal and new life in Christ.
Some
churches begin their Easter celebration the night before with the
Easter vigil, a practice begun in the earliest years of the church.
The vigil moves from outside the church in darkness to the sanctuary
lighted by the Paschal candle. Sometimes baptisms take place or a
renewal of baptismal vows, recalling how in the early church the new
believers were baptized on Easter.
Still
other churches may assemble for their first Easter worship at
sunrise. Whenever Christians gather on this day, they often use the
traditional Easter greeting: “Alleluia! Christ is risen!” and the
response, “Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!” White or gold
banners and vestments are used on this festival day.
