FundScrip is a gift card fundraising program that St. Mark's is going to be using. It’s a great way to raise money from the purchases we are already making – eliminating the need to ask you to increase your donations, make another casserole or sell anything. The program does not ask anyone to change what they buy, where they buy it, or how much they spend. We just pay with gift cards ordered through the church, instead of cash, debit or credit. It’s that easy. 

How does it work? Supporters of the church pay for their everyday expenses with gift cards bought through FundScrip, and a percentage of the gift cards purchased is donated to the church. Watch for more information in the weeks ahead! FundScrip is coming soon!

Digital Photo Directory  St. Mark's Christian Education Committee has undertaken the job of producing a digital photo directory. The purpose of this directory is to give Nan and newcomers to our Churches a way of recognizing the members of our congregations. (St. David’s congregation is also joining in this project). This directory will cost you nothing and we are not selling photos. We would appreciate the full cooperation of every member and adherent of both congregations. This project will be concluded by the end of June and a PDF file will be sent to all members who have email. A .jpg file of your photo will be available if you wish to take it to be printed. During this period, you may be getting a call from Bonnie, Camille, Joyce or Natasha to arrange for a sitting. St. David’s Elders will be calling to arrange for pictures and directory entries. Pictures will be taken after the Church Service at St. Mark’s on June 2nd and 9th. If you are not available on these Sundays, another time can be arranged for your convenience. Even if you are an occasional church attender, you are still important to us and we want to include you. Please help us to make this venture a success!

Leeside’s Annual Day Camp will be offered in Port Hawkesbury from July 15-19 and July 22-26. Registration will be held May 27 8-4 at Strait Area Womens Place. The registration fee is $50.00 which includes snacks and a lunch. Pre-registration is necessary. Deadline is June 21. For more information call 625-1990.

There will be an evening of prayer, music and scriptures for families and friends of those who have died while under the care of St. Martha’s Regional Hospital (August 1, 2012 – January 31^st, 2013). This service will be held in the Claire Marie Auditorium (former St. Martha’s Chapel) Antigonish, on Thursday, June 29^th at 7:15 p.m. Refreshments following. Please join us!

On Thursday, June 13^th at 7 p.m. in the Shannon Studio in Civic Centre there will be a Session on Skin Cancers and Sun Safety. Guest Speaker Dr. Stacey Northgrove Dermatologist from Sydney, Annette DeCoste from Shoppers Drug Mart, Master of Ceremonies Bob Mac Eachern. Instructions

With smaller needles, cast on 86 (94) sts.

1st row: (RS). K2. *P2. K2. Rep from * to end of row.

Split-lock stitch marker, yarn needle.
GAUGE: 15 sts = 4”; 17 rounds = 4” in sc with larger hook.
CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain
the gauge.

CAP
Round 1: With larger hook, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook,
pm in last st of round. Move marker up at end of each
round – 6 sc.
Round 2: Sc in front and back loop of each sc around – 12 sc.
Continue alternating front and back loop throughout.
Increase by working 1 sc in front and back loop of one st

around opposite edge. Fasten off.

Flower
Ch 30, (dc, ch 3, slip st, [ch 3, dc, ch 3, slip st] twice) all in
4th ch from hook, * (slip st, ch 3, dc, ch 3, slip st) all in next
ch; repeat from * across. Fasten off. Starting with the first 3
petals, spiral the petals around in layers and stitch in place
from the back. Sew flower on band to cover seam.
Slide band over hat and tack in place.

Pentecost Sunday

Pentecost plays with fire. Its essential message is that Christian community, and all creation itself, relies for life on the sending of God’s Spirit. As such, Pentecost reminds us, individually and corporately, of God’s extraordinary and powerful freedom. may the Spirit bless these offerings with great power for good.

And may the givers be blessed with freedom and peace,

knowing that the use of this money glorifies you, God,

St. David's UCW Catered to the Rotary Singapore Exchange

A delicious turkey dinner with lemon merigue pie for dessert was served to the Rotary Club of Port Hawkesbury and their 5 participants of a Rotary Exchange program from Singapore on May 7th. The dinner was greatly appreciated and the table decorations were stunning with jugs of beautiful yellow tulips and forsythia.
