July 12, 2015-7th after Pentecost
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting -
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

WE GATHER TO WORSHIP GOD

Greeting
One: The peace of Christ be with you. All: And with your spirit.
* Introit       O God We Call          x2, 2nd time quietly VU 411
Call to Worship
God lavishes us with the rich blessings of grace,
God gathers us into mystery and makes it known to us,
God gathers us up with all things in heaven and on earth
and makes us God’s own people.
Come let us worship the God of grace, mystery and inclusion.

Opening Prayer

Loving God, you gather us up as your beloved people, your

children. We are bound together by your spirit, that we might

be a living reflection of your glory and grace and love. Open

our hearts this day to strengthen our resolve to accept the

challenges that come with this call. Bring us clarity of mind so

we might better know and understand your intent for us within

 your good creation. Amen.

* Hymn We Are One VU 402

Prayer for Wholeness
After a period of silence.
You gather us into your loving embrace.
We do wrong and act without consideration, but we do not have to live with brokenness, nor do we need to bear the pain of great acts of repentance, and spend our lives on bended knees. To be forgiven we need only ask for forgiveness.
So we come simply and humbly and ask that once again you extend your mercy and love to us.
Words of Affirmation
As God extends blessing throughout all the earth and into the heavens,
so God extends grace to us all and forgives us our wrongdoing. Let us be thankful and rejoice. Amen.
