                   WE GATHER TO WORSHIP GOD

Welcome and greeting one another with the Peace of Christ.
One: The peace of Christ be with you. Response: And with your spirit.
UCW Purpose:
It is the purpose of the UCW:
to unite the women of the congregation for the total mission of the church, and to provide a medium through which we may express our loyalty and devotion to Jesus Christ in Christian witness, study, fellowship and service.
* Call to Worship
One:  We bring to this time, the threads of our history
All :    And we offer them in remembrance.
One:  We bring to this time the threads of our present story,
All:     And we offer them in celebration.
One:  We bring to this time the threads of our story yet untold.
All:     And we offer them in hope.  Let us worship together.
* Opening Prayer
God of all time, we come to this place and this time and we meet to offer our praise and our thanksgiving.  The past has been lived in your presence, the present is in your care, and the future is known only to you.  We come today honouring fifty years of witness, study, fellowship and service, and we gather to rejoice in the wonderful story of the United Church Women.  Be with us today as we celebrate all that has been and all that is yet to be.  In the  sure knowledge of your presence we pray.    Amen.
* Hymn            You Call Us Out                                          VU 569

We Celebrate Our History written by Betty Radford Turcott for Voices of United Church Women 1962-2002  Used with permission. (VU331 Tune)
We celebrate our history, rejoice to know our past,
And thank God for those women who to the faith held fast.
They toiled in God's service, they worshiped, worked and prayed
and following a vision they journeyed unafraid.

In this a world of turmoil, the call of God we heed.
And to that call stay faithful, in action, word and deed.
Thus challenged by our purpose, and struggling on the way,
We journey where God leads us, toward a better day.

We look toward the future, and joyfully we go.
With faith into tomorrow the seeds of life to sow.
We follow still that vision, that will not be denied,
The coming of an Eden where all in love abide.
* Commissioning
* UCW Benediction:
May the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, rest upon all our work and worship done in His name. May He give us light to guide us, courage to support us and love to unite us, now and for evermore.

* Choral Amen

ORDER OF SERVICE ST. MARK'S OCTOBER 28 2012

Worship Leader: Chris Cook

22nd after Pentecost—Peace Sunday

Thoughts around which to gather as we worship: Bartimaeus immediately follows Jesus “on the way.” Many scholars understand “the way” as a way people referred to Christianity in the early church. How do you understand “the way” of Christ today?

* Opening Prayer: (in unsion)
God of grace and glory, we come to praise your holy name for
the many ways in which you have touched and blessed us. Today we give thanks as we remember those who planted the seeds of Christian faith in this community. Invitation to Confession
Prayer of Confession: (in unison)
Holy and loving God, we confess that we have sinned,
By choice, and by conditioning,
In ignorance, and in awareness,
on our own, and with others.
We take responsibility for what we have done and ask for your forgiveness.
By your Holy Spirit, turn us from the pathways of evil
and lead us along the pathways which lead to your good.
Give us time to change our ways.
Help us to live truthfully, practice justice,
